51mm diameter. During the ceremonies in Stockholm Sweden on December 10, 1976 seven distinguished Americans received the world's most coveted award---the Nobel Prize. It was the very first time since the prestigious award was introduced in 1901 that citizens of the United States had received all the Nobel Prizes presented in single year.
The commemorative medal is The Franklin Mint's tribute to that historic event. Sculptured by the distinguished American medalist Gilroy Roberts, it portrays all seven of the Nobel Laureates who brought such honor to their nation. The design also includes 50 stars representing the 50 states of this Bicentennial year. The reverse identifies both the winners and their fields of achievement and bears a special commemorative legend Americans Win Every Nobel Prize Awarded During 1976.
